Flexible Entries

Advanced add-on feature

Flexible Entries is an add-on feature for phase matching. It is not a schedule mode; instead, it works with the selected matching mode when teams register different numbers of entries.

License Requirement

Flexible Entries is an Advanced tier feature. It is not available in Basic or Demo licenses.

Why Use Flexible Entries

Flexible Entries lets Derby combine event sizes in the same phase, such as 3-entry groups alongside teams that register a fourth entry. Instead of requiring the same number of elements for every team, Derby uses each team's available entries and builds the fight slots that can still be scheduled.

  • Supports mixed event sizes, such as 3-entry groups alongside teams that register a fourth entry
  • Useful when a team has a missing weight, omitted entry, scratch, or incomplete registration
  • Round mode distributes available entries across the rounds they can actually enter
  • Simple and other non-round modes use the available entries to build the fight list
  • Company entries and wildcards can still fill odd counts when needed

How It Works

Enable Flexible Entries in the phase settings before generating the schedule. Derby keeps the selected matching mode, then calculates match slots from the entries each team actually has available.

Selected modeFlexible Entries behavior
Round Available entries are distributed across the rounds where they can participate.
Simple Available entries are used to build one flat fight list.
