Player management

A player represents the owner of one or more teams. Entries from the same player never fight each other.

Player concept

The player acts as a common denominator between multiple teams that should not face each other. This prevents conflicts of interest and automatically ensures tournament fairness.

Practical examples

  • Juan Pérez — Owner of two teams: "Gallo de Oro 1" and "Gallo de Oro 2". His entries never fight each other.
  • La Granja Colores — Registers multiple teams with color names. All belong to the same player.
  • Pablo — Shared caretaker for teams from different farms. Assigning the same player prevents fights between his entries.

Exclusion rules

In addition to automatic player-based exclusion, Derby allows additional rules (omits) at team or individual entry level for more precise control. Exclusions are configured with drag and drop on the omits screen.

  • Team exclusion — No entry from team A can fight any entry from team B
  • Entry exclusion — Two specific entries cannot fight each other
  • Pacts — Forces two specific entries to be matched

Company cards and wildcards

To balance the fight bracket when the number of entries is odd or insufficient, Derby offers two tools:

  • Company card — Entry provided by the organization that only fights in the last round
  • Wildcard — Reserve entry promoted to the main bracket when needed to complete rounds
