Weight management

Control tolerance, weight classes, common denominator and matching priority to ensure fair fights.

Weight tolerance

Define the maximum weight difference in grams allowed between two opponents. The engine never matches entries that exceed this limit, protecting the fairness of each fight.

Weight classes (brackets)

Divide the full weight range into predefined categories. Useful when tournament rules require fixed weight classes.

Common denominator

Derby examines the weights of all teams and automatically finds the tolerance window that allows the maximum number of teams to participate.

Light/heavy priority

Indicates whether the engine should optimize lighter entries, heavier entries, or both ends first. Two searches run in parallel — one ascending, one descending — and the best result is kept.

  • USB/HID scale — Capture weight directly from Dymo, Mettler-Toledo and other HID-compatible scales
  • Serial scale (Torrey/Rhino) — Compatible with popular Mexican serial scales like Torrey and Rhino via COM port
  • Per-phase tolerance — Assign a different weight limit to each tournament phase
  • Quality metrics — SumError, LargestDelta and MaxDeltaPenalty to evaluate matchups
  • F5 capture — Press F5 to capture weight directly from a connected USB/HID or serial scale
  • Auto-tagging — Common denominator tags selected entries with "CD" to integrate with tagged mode
